Apple has released a third beta iOS 9.2 and a second beta of tvOS 9.1 for users participating in the public beta and developer beta programs. The new iOS 9.2 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch has build number 13C71, while tvOS beta 2 is 13U5069b.
Previous beta iOS 9.2 users can update their device firmware over the air via Settings> General> Software Updates. The update weighs about 1.2 MB.
Gen 4 Apple TV owners who have the previous beta version of tvOS installed can similarly upgrade Over the Air through Settings.
Updates are also available at Apple Developer Center or can be manually installed via iTunes.
Both betas are likely to contain bug fixes and minor improvements to various features. At the moment, we managed to find out that the following changes are present in iOS 9.2 beta 3:
- In Safari View Controller, page reload without blocking content and loading the desktop version have been added, both options are called by a long tap on the page refresh button, as in Safari.
- Explicit congestion notification (ECN) is enabled by default for Wi-Fi and some mobile operators. ECN is used to reduce network latency and prevent packet loss.
In addition, Mac developers and beta testers can download the third beta OS X 10.11.2 released at the same time.
