While all the attention is focused on a potential jailbreak iOS 11.1.2, it became known that there may be a jailbreak for tvOS 11 and newer.
Developer and hacker Jonathan Levin, who released the LiberTV jailbreak for tvOS 10 – tvOS 10.1 earlier this year, announced that he plans to release a new jailbreak tool for tvOS11.0 and tvOS 11.1 for Apple TV 4 and Apple TV 5 (Apple TV 4K).
He said he would release it as soon as he could completely disable code signing. The hacker briefly mentioned that it would take a day or more, and asked users Twitter not to bother him for now. He also added that he will release the jailbreak tool iOS 11.1.2 shortly after the jailbreak itself Apple TV.
Here’s what he wrote:
Jailbreak LiberTV 1.1 for tvOS 11.0 and 11.1 on Apple TV 4 and 4K will be released when I completely disable code signing (i.e. after about a day), but you don’t need to bother me. The jailbreak tool will be released immediately after that. Once again, DON’T GET ME. Answer this with a question about the release time, a question about version 11.2 or just a stupid question ==> FUN.
This jailbreak may come out even before the jailbreak iOS 11.1.2. You can’t jailbreak iOS 11.1.2 using Levin’s tool, but it should help the developers create it.
tvOS 11.2.1 is the latest version of the system for Apple TV, so if you have tvOS11.1 or lower, do not update to install the jailbreak later.
