The Gigabit Ethernet port was returned to the new Apple TV 4K (on the previous model, wired Internet works at 10/100 Mb / s), but the useful USB-C port was removed from it.
The fourth generation Apple TV, which is still on sale today, has a USB-C port.
Apple added a port for service and support, but enthusiasts used it to connect the TV to their computers and hack the firmware, install Xcode, enable recovery mode, etc.
As for the Ethernet port, 4K video playback will depend on the Internet signal, so it's not in vain that support for 1000 Mb / s was added to it.
According to the company, broadcasting 4K content requires 15Mbps internet, so it's a good idea to be able to connect Apple TV 4K to a modem using an Ethernet port, which can provide high signal throughput.
As before, the TV can connect to Wi-Fi802.11ac with MIMO, but the cable connection will definitely be faster and more reliable.
