App Annie research found that over 26 billion apps were downloaded by users Android and iOS in the third quarter of 2017, from June to September. This is 8% more than in previous years. The data does not concern updates, only downloads of new applications.
The report also said that time spent in apps Android increased by 40%, i.e. almost 325 billion hours were spent on them. App Annie linked this leap to users in and around India. The main growth was in India, Vietnam and Indonesia, and this is due to the launch of the local mobile Internet Reliance Jio in 2016.
As for apps iOS, their downloads grew by 8%. This is due to the simplification of restrictions on instant messengers in Saudi Arabia, where their popularity will continue to grow. The main consumers of applications iOS are still China, the USA and Saudi Arabia.
Revenues for Android and iOS App Store increased by 25%. In both stores, users spent $ 17 billion, 11 of which was spent in iOS App Store. In less than five years, app revenue will grow to $ 100 billion, App Annie predicts.
