TikTok is a Vine-style video app and has been downloaded more times than Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube. Unlike Vine, in the TikTok app, you can only record videos with quotes from movies, songs, etc.
The TikTok app has exploded in popularity over the past few months. It was bought by the Chinese company ByteDance in 2017, and this year it was merged with the Musical.ly app.
TikTok was released in September 2016 and by the time it was merged with Musical.ly, it had about 150 million users. By June of this year, there were already 500 million users.
In September, the app grew by another 31%, and the number of downloads from App Store and Google Play reached 3.81 million. The app managed to break the record Facebook, which was downloaded 3.53 million times. TikTok downloads in the US have grown 237% since October 2017.
To this point, TikTok has been downloaded more times than popular apps such as Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube. This testifies to its popularity. What's the secret? After downloading, the application leaves only 29% of users. For comparison, Facebook is 96%, Instagram is 95%, and YouTube is 95%.
The secret to the growing popularity of the TikTok app is in the number of ads with it on different platforms.
