Technology AirPlay 2 is still in development. This function will become one of the key ones for the first smart column of the company HomePod.
Apple has already confirmed that it will release the feature publicly soon, but did not provide an exact date. However, the company has already added AirPlay 2 in beta iOS 11.3 and tvOS 11.3 in January this year. Accordingly, we will receive the function with the final release of the update.
Today it turned out that the function AirPlay 2 has been removed from the third beta versions iOS 11.3 and tvOS 11.3. This means that the technology is not yet ready, and users with beta versions of updates will not be able to use it to play music on several Apple TV (4th or 5th generation) simultaneously.
In the latest beta versions, it is no longer possible to select multiple audio output sources at once. Moreover, Apple TV was removed from the Home app altogether.
It is not yet known why Apple removed the function AirPlay 2, and most likely we will not find out at all. Apple still plans to release the technology in the first half of 2018, so it should come back in the next beta releases iOS 11.3 and tvOS 11.3.
Previous beta releases with feature AirPlay 2 had a fair amount of issues, but this is common in early update releases. Perhaps Apple was too dissatisfied with the stability of the function and removed it for a while.
Hopefully the feature will be returned in the final version of the update.
