This year Apple has changed the line of smartphones, replacing the usual Plus-models with the giant iPhone Xs Max. But what does it have to offer other than a giant 6.5-inch OLED display? Let's take a look at a comparison with a regular iPhone Xs!
What is the difference?
Like the Plus models from the sixth generation onwards, the Max differs from the regular Xs in four ways: display size, dimensions, battery capacity and price.
Display
Comparison of the dimensions and displays of the new models with last year's iPhone 8 Plus.
iPhone Xs: 5.8 ″ OLED – display with True Tone | resolution 2436 x 1125 pixels (458 ppi) | support 3D Touch, HDR10 and Dolby Vision
iPhone Xs Max: 6.5 ″ OLED – display with True Tone | resolution 2688 x 1242 pixels (458 ppi) | support 3D Touch, HDR10 and Dolby Vision
The display for iPhone Xs Max is the same as for iPhone Xs, only 0.7 inches larger. Although the resolution is slightly higher compared to the regular model, the pixel density is the same here – 458 ppi. Both smartphones take full advantage of OLED and support Dolby Vision and HDR 10 technologies.
Battery
iPhone Xs: Lasts 30 minutes longer than iPhone X | 12 hours on the Internet | 14 hours of video playback | 20 hours talk time
iPhone Xs Max: Lasts 90 minutes longer than iPhone X | 13 hours on the Internet | 15 hours of video playback | 25 hours talk time
Since the Xs Max is equipped with a larger battery than the regular model, it can last longer when performing daily tasks. Both smartphones support fast and wireless charging technologies.
Overall dimensions
iPhone Xs: 143.6 x 70.9 x 7.7 mm | 177 g | IP68 certified
iPhone Xs Max: 157.5 x 77.4 x 7.7 mm | 208 g | IP68 certified
Since the Max version has a larger display and battery capacity, this also affected the weight of the device. The Xs Max is 31g heavier than the regular Xs. At the same time, despite the wider and taller display, the Max managed to maintain the same thickness as the younger model. Both smartphones are protected from water according to the IP68 standard. This means that they can be under water at a depth of 2 meters for half an hour.
Price
iPhone Xs: from 87,990 rubles.
iPhone Xs Max: from 96,990 rubles.
Of course, the larger screen and extended battery life mean the Max is predictably more expensive. In Russia, the difference between Xs and Xs Max with the same memory size will be 9,000 rubles, in the USA it is slightly less – $ 100.
In all other aspects – design, cameras, Face ID and build materials – these models are no different from each other. Recall that both new items will go on sale on September 28 in Russia (September 21 in the United States and several other countries), and pre-orders will open tomorrow, September 14.
