Google Pixel 3 XL vs iPhone XS Max: what's the difference?

Google has unveiled its flagship smartphones this year Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. The Pixel line is known for its high camera quality, but the other specs are just as impressive. Can the new Pixel 3 XL compare to the iPhone XS Max? Read on to find out the answer to this question.

Pixel-3

Pixel 3 XL has all the best from Google in terms of technology and system, while iPhone XS Max is the best smartphone Apple. I wonder how much their characteristics differ.

Design

In terms of design iPhone, the XS Max is the clear winner. Despite having a notch in the display, the Pixel 3 XL has thick bezels at the top and bottom. Google put stereo speakers on them, but that's not enough excuse. The Pixel 3 XL's notch is twice as thick as the iPhone XS Max, but it doesn't support face recognition. Google placed a dual 8MP front camera in the notch.

front

The iPhone XS Max has practically no bezels around the display and looks amazing. It's a pity that the design Google lags behind Apple even a year after the presentation of iPhone X.

Both smartphones have glass panels on the front and back to support wireless charging, but the Pixel 3 XL comes with a coating that feels like metal. The iPhone XS Max has stainless steel frames that are much better than the Pixel 3 XL aluminum frames.

iPhone The XS Max and Pixel 3 XL are IP68 water and dust resistant. Both smartphones have stereo speakers, but the Pixel 3 XL has them on the front and is 40% louder than the Pixel 2 XL.

Display

Last year, Google mocked Apple for the iPhone X notch design and has now added a notch to the Pixel 3 XL. The smartphone has a 6.3-inch QHD + P – OLED display with an aspect ratio of 19: 9 and 522 pixels per inch. By comparison, the iPhone XS Max 6.5-inch OLED has a 458 ppi display.

  • iPhone XS Max – 6.5-inch True Tone OLED, 2688 × 1242 (458ppi), 3D Touch, HDR10, Dolby Vision, 3D Touch , display-to-body ratio 84.4%
  • Google Pixel 3 XL – 6.3-inch P – OLED, 1440×2960, HDR10, 83.12% display-to-body ratio

iPhone The XS Max was voted the best display smartphone on the market, but it looks like Google has been bypassed Apple this time around. According to Display Mate, the Pixel 3 XL has the best OLED display in the world.

Considering how much Google the Pixel 2 XL's display quality has been criticized, this is a great achievement for the company.

CPU

  • iPhone XS Max – A12 Bionic, 7nm, 6-core CPU 15% faster, 4-core GPU 50% faster, 8-core neural engine
  • Google Pixel 3 XL – 4-core Exynos 9810 / Snapdragon 845 with 2.7 / 2.8GHz, 10nm

The A12 Bionic processor inside the iPhone XS Max is a monster, and the Snapdragon 845 processor just can't match it. The first is based on a 7nm process and contains a 4-core graphics and 6-core CPU, as well as an improved neural engine for artificial intelligence functions. The Snapdragon 845 is based on a 10nm process and contains the Qualcomm Adreno 630 GPU and several other chips for specific tasks.

The A12 Bionic processor is two or three times faster than the processors in smartphones with Android.

RAM and memory

  • iPhone XS Max – 4GB RAM, 64/256 / 512GB storage
  • Google Pixel 3 XL – 4GB RAM, 64 / 128GB storage

Both smartphones have 4GB of RAM, and the base variants contain 64GB of memory. However, the Pixel 3 XL max is 128GB and the iPhone XS Max is 512GB.

iPhone The 512GB XS Max costs $ 1,449, but at least buyers have a choice. Pixel 3 buyers will have to limit themselves to 128GB of storage. Considering the high cost of both smartphones, their base storage could be increased to 128GB.

Camera

Pixel-3-front-camera

This is the only characteristic of the Pixel 3 XL that is worse in theory, but better in practice thanks to the system. The iPhone XS Max has a dual 12MP camera, while the Pixel 3 XL has a single 12.2MP main camera. The main cameras of the devices are almost the same – f / 1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization. Apple uses Smart HDR to improve the quality of photos, and Google uses machine learning and Auto HDR +, which is significantly better.

The new Pixel is packed with AI-powered features that also improve image quality. On the front, the iPhone XS Max has a 7MP TrueDepth camera, while the Pixel 3 XL has a dual 8MP camera. One of the front cameras has an f / 1.8 aperture, while the other has an f / 2.2 aperture for wide-angle group selfies. According to Google this camera can capture 184% more than iPhone XS Max.

The Pixel 3 XL is the clear leader when it comes to camera, despite missing some of the features that have become the standard for flagship smartphones. Google also provides unlimited storage for photos and 4K videos.

Biometric Authentication

  • iPhone XS Max – Face ID
  • Google Pixel 3 XL – Fingerprint reader

Surprisingly, the Pixel 3 XL doesn't include facial recognition technology, just a fingerprint scanner. However, this is a matter of taste: some users like fingerprint scanning, while others find face recognition more convenient.

Battery

  • iPhone XS Max – 3174mAh, USB-C Fast Charging, Wireless Charging
  • Google Pixel 3 XL – 3450mAh, 10W wireless fast charging, 18W wired charging

The Pixel 3 XL has a 3450mAh battery, while the iPhone XS Max only has 3174mAh. Pixel 3 XL should last longer than other smartphones with Android thanks to new smart features. In general, smartphones can run for about the same amount of time.

Smartphones support fast charging and wireless charging, but the Pixel 3 XL comes with 10W wireless charging and 18W wired charging. users will be able to use fast charging immediately. iPhone The XS Max comes with a regular 5W power adapter and takes over 3 hours to fully charge.

Price

Here again, the Pixel 3 XL leads the way, but it won't be as easy to buy as the iPhone XS Max. The Pixel 3 XL costs $ 899 with 64GB of storage, and $ 999 with 128GB. iPhone The XS Max costs between $ 1099 and $ 1499, which is much more expensive.
