Display
The Galaxy Note 9 has a 6.4-inch QHD + Super display AMOLED that is curved at the left and right edges. The aspect ratio of the display is 18.5: 9 and there is no notch on it. Samsung is the largest manufacturer OLED of smartphone panels, and with the Note 9, the company has once again set the standard for display quality.
iPhone X 5.8-inch OLED – display with notch. Apple also uses Samsung's panels, but the company has made its own improvements to them, which is why the model received the title of the smartphone with the best display last year. Most likely, this year the title will pass to the Note 9.
Assembly
Models iPhone X are almost 10 months old, but the build quality is better than the Galaxy Note 9. This is due to the stainless steel frame; the Note 9 has an aluminum frame. It really feels like iPhone X is more pleasant to hold in your hand. Both phones have sturdy glass panels on the front and back that are not easy to break but scratch easily.
Camera
The Galaxy Note 9 has the same variable aperture dual cameras as the Galaxy S9 +. Samsung has made several improvements to its camera app, but the difference in image quality is negligible. Camera iPhone X is worse in theory, but in reality it performs well.
The Note 9's camera has artificial intelligence features that help it accurately recognize scenes for better image quality, but this is unlikely to have a big impact on the finished shot.
S Pen
The S Pen is definitely the best feature of Samsung's Note lineup. This time Samsung has made its stylus even better by adding support for Bluetooth LE. The S Pen can now do much more, like launching the camera app, switching presentation slides, changing camera modes, and more. You can also customize the action of the S Pen button to your liking.
The S Pen uses a supercapacitor that allows the stylus to charge in just 40 seconds. However, it only works after that for 30 minutes.
iPhone X does not support Apple Pencil at all.
AR Emoji vs Animoji
Samsung didn't even mention AR Emoji during the Galaxy Note 9 launch. Earlier this year, the company first released AR Emoji alongside the Galaxy S9. AR Emoji has support for a large number of characters, but the feature does not work as expected. This is due to the fact that it works on the basis of a front-facing 8MP camera with an aperture of f / 1.7 and does not use special sensors for 3D face tracking.
For comparison, iPhone X uses the TrueDepth camera for Animoji. Apple will make the feature even better in iOS 12 by introducing custom Memoji and adding more Animoji characters.
Battery
Traditionally, smartphones with Android have more batteries than iPhone, but at the same time Apple manage to provide more hours of their smartphones. The Note 9 has a powerful 4000mAh battery that should last all day. iPhone X has only 2716mAh battery. The Note 9 should last longer than iPhone X, although this is highly dependent on how you use your smartphone. Both smartphones support fast charging and wireless charging.
Communication
The Note 9 is the clear winner in this area. In addition to supporting dual SIM in markets outside of the US, the Note 9 also supports LTE download speeds of up to 1.2Gbps. iPhone X is limited to LTE download speed of 800 Mbps. While these speeds are only possible in theory, the Note 9 contains other benefits that provide higher network bandwidth and download speeds, even in areas with weak networks. Samsung noted the LTE acceleration in the Galaxy S9, and with the Note 9, it remains just as fast.
Memory
This is another area where the Note beats the iPhone X. The base memory of the Note 9 is 128GB, which is enough for most users. In addition, the smartphone has a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 512GB. For people who want even more storage, there is a 512GB option. Combined with a 512GB SD card, the Note 9 can provide up to 1TB of storage.
Base memory iPhone X is only 64GB, a 256GB variant is also available.
The Note 9 features up to 8GB of RAM, more than double the iPhone X (3GB). This gives the Note 9 the advantage of multitasking, making it ideal for power users.
In other characteristics of the smartphone on par. They are both waterproof, support face unlock, wireless charging, and have great displays.
