iOS 11 is officially out! As promised, Apple has just released iOS 11, the next generation mobile operating system for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
It was first announced at the 2017 Worldwide Developers Conference, and released to developers in June. iOS 11 contains many new features like customizable control center, multitasking functionality for iPad, new Files app, ARKit technology and more.
iOS 11 is supported by the following devices:
- iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 5s
- 12.9 iPad Pro 2nd generation, 12.9 iPad Pro 1st generation, 10.5 iPad Pro, 9.7 iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad 5th generation, iPad mini 4, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2
- iPod Touch 6th generation
However, not all new features will be available on compatible devices. ARKit is one such feature.
Prepare for the upgrade
Before you install iOS 11 on your device, you need to prepare it. You will find out how to do this in our article below.

Jailbreak
If you have a jailbreak and you can't live without your favorite apps and tweaks, then you shouldn't upgrade to iOS 11 until a jailbreak is released specifically for this version of the system.

Install iOS 11
You can install iOS 11 directly from your device. You can also install the update using iTunes and connecting your device to your computer.
What's new in the update
- The lock screen and action center are combined so that you can now view notifications without removing the lock from your device.
- The Control Center again consists of a single screen. You can now open additional settings with 3D Touch.
- Apple redesigned the Messages app to make it easier to use. Now you can send money to other users from the application.
- Potential final solution to sync issues: Messages, Siri and photos will now sync across all your devices via iCloud.
- Siri now has a more believable voice, supports translation and also contains a small design update. Also Siri can make lists and search applications by QR code.
- App Store received a completely new design and became similar to Apple Music. Added separate tabs for viewing game apps and updates.
- Do Not Disturb While Driving automatically turns off all notifications while driving.
- Now, when you take a screenshot, a small preview will appear in the lower left corner of the screen. Click on it and the editor will open immediately.
- The Files app will replace iCloud Drive.
