Today Apple presented iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus – updated versions of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Now they are made of glass, with updated internals and many new features.
iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be made of glass and their frames will be aluminum. Apple assures that this is the most durable glass on a smartphone.
Apple used the same materials on iPhone 5 / 5s, but now the company has made the corners smooth for better ergonomics. At first glance, the new models can even be confused with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
The company has managed to improve the stereo speakers, and the bass will be 25 percent more powerful.
iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available in three colors – Silver, Space Gray and the new Gold.
The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will have 4.7-inch 750p and 5.5-inch 1080p LCD displays. However Apple added True Tone technology to them. As with iPad, True Tone on newer models will automatically adjust display brightness based on lighting conditions.
In addition, 3D Touch will remain on the phones.
A11 processor and memory
The new models will run on a 6-core A11 processor. Four cores will be energy efficient and two will run at full capacity. The A11 processor will be much more powerful. Apple says the new processor is 25 percent more powerful than the A10 processor and 70 percent faster in multitasking. The A11 processor uses a GPU that is 30 percent more powerful than that of the A10 processor. In general, the processor will be 50 percent more powerful than the previous one.
As for RAM, iPhone 8 will have 2GB and iPhone 8 Plus will have 3GB. The phones will be available in 64, 128 and 256GB variants.
The 'home' button will retain the Touch ID fingerprint reader. Apple will continue to use the second generation Touch ID sensor, which debuted on iPhone 7 last year.
iPhone 8 will have a 12MP main camera with improved pixels and a new color filter, and it will take better quality photos. As for the iPhone 8 Plus, it will have a 12MP dual camera with the same specs.
iPhone 8 Plus will have a new Portrait Lighting mode. Thanks to machine learning, the mode will be able to add light effects to photographs taken in portrait mode. You can choose the effect before and after taking the photo. Portrait Lighting Mode will be available in beta on iPhone 8 Plus
iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be able to record 4K video at 60fps, as well as Full HD at 240fps.
Apple says the cameras iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have been enhanced to work with augmented reality. With the powerful A11 processor and camera, AR apps will run at iPhone 8 as well as possible. The demo shown at the presentation used augmented reality in the game.
Connectivity and wireless charging
On iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus there will be NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, chip Apple W1, LTE-A , fast charging, wired charging connector and Qi wireless charging. Apple hasn't announced its own Qi charger, but the company is working with third-party manufacturers whose chargers will be available from day one.
iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available on September 15th. The phones will only be available in 64GB and 256GB versions. iPhone 8 costs $ 699 and iPhone 8 Plus costs $ 799.
