Three generations of smartwatches Apple Watch have already been released, and they have become one of the best accessories for iPhone (second after headphones AirPods). Apple Watch are great for managing notifications, quickly reviewing information, and tracking physical metrics while exercising. At the moment, the latest available version of the system for them is watchOS 4. The first two versions of watchOS were not fully developed, and the first Apple Watch (Series 0) had become rather slow by this time.
If you have Apple Watch 1st generation, then you probably noticed that they have become slower, especially when using workout apps and Siri. For the most part, this is due to insufficiently powerful components, however, by changing a few watchOS settings, you can slightly speed up your old ones Apple Watch.

1. Decrease movement
This is the easiest thing you can do to speed up your Apple Watch.
As with iOS, you can remove some animations on Apple Watch. This will consume fewer resources and the clock will run faster. If the Workouts app is especially slow for you, try turning on Reduce movement.
Decrease traffic by Apple Watch
To enable the option on their own Apple Watch, press the Digital Crown to open the home screen. Here click on the Settings icon and select Easy Access. Find the Reduce Motion feature and turn it on.
After that, you will notice that some animations are missing from the interface. Together with the zoom effect, you will see a simple fade-out transition that is much faster and uses fewer resources.
Decrease motion in app Apple Watch
Open the app Apple Watch on your iPhone, go to the My Watch tab, and then to General-> Easy access-> Reduce motion and enable the function.
2. Close minimized applications
If you have a lot of applications open in the background, they can slow down Apple Watch. They can be quickly closed on the watch itself.
Press the side button to open the watchOS dock. After that, swipe left on each app and tap the X.
3. Disable automatic downloads
By default iOS automatically installs to Apple Watch all compatible applications you install on your iPhone. If you like to download applications out of interest, then a lot of unnecessary ones have probably accumulated on your watch. Applications consume the memory of the watch and thus slow it down.
Open the app Apple Watch, go to the My Watch tab, select General and turn off Automatic downloads.
4. Remove unnecessary applications
After you have disabled automatic downloads, you need to remove any unnecessary applications that you do not use.
Step 1: On your Apple Watch click on the Digital Crown to open the home screen.
Step 2: Hold any icon until an animation appears. You have entered the editor mode.
Step 3: Find third party apps. These are the ones with an X in the upper left corner.
Step 4: Click on the icon of the application you want to remove, and then click on Remove to confirm the action.
If you really have a lot of unnecessary applications, the process of removing them will take some time. Fortunately, this is done more conveniently in the app for iPhone.
Open the app Apple Watch, go to the My Watch tab and scroll down the screen. You will see a whole section with applications installed on Apple Watch. Click on any app and then on the switch. After that, the application will disappear from your Apple Watch.
5. Delete playlists Apple Music
If you have watchOS 4 installed and sync with Apple Music is enabled, then all playlists from iPhone are saved on the watch. Apple Music playlists are very handy, but they take up a lot of memory. Apple Watch has only 3GB of free memory.
Open the app Apple Watch, go to the My Watch tab and select Music. Here, click on the switches next to the unnecessary playlists. This will need to be done regularly.
6. Reboot Apple Watch
Sometimes a simple reboot helps. It closes applications in the background, clears RAM, cache, etc. Hold down the Digital Crown until a menu with a shutdown appears. Then swipe down on the slider to turn off the clock. To turn on the Apple Watch, press the Digital Crown again.
7. Update software Apple Watch
You may have an older version of watchOS installed. The system has improved since version 3. If you haven't done so by now, it's time to upgrade. In new versions of the system, bugs have been fixed, due to which the clock may run slower.
It is usually best not to update to the latest available version of the system on older devices, however in the case of Apple Watch it is worse to stay on older versions.
Open the app Apple Watch, go to the My Watch tab, and then to General -> Software Update.
8. Disable background app refresh
As in iOS, background app updates on smartwatches are resource intensive and drain battery. It's a handy feature, but if you only use a few apps on your watch, you don't need it.
Note: Background app refresh is also responsible for watch face elements. If you have a third-party service, for example, with the weather, then you should not disable the function.
Open the app Apple Watch, go to the My Watch tab, then to General and select Background app refresh. Here the function can be disabled completely or only for some applications.
9. Clearing Apple Watch
This is the last exit that can help speed up Apple Watch. Your best bet is to completely clean your smartwatch and set it up again.
Step 1: On yours Apple Watch, click on the Digital Crown to open the home screen.
Step 2: Here select Settings-> General-> Reset.
Step 3: Click Erase Content and Settings.
This will remove all data, apps and settings from your Apple Watch. After completing the process, the watch will be like new again. They will need to be reconnected to the smartphone and manually downloaded the required applications. This method will definitely make your watch faster.
