Today Apple officially released watchOS 5.1.1 with bug fixes and some changes. The new version was released less than a week after the release of the watchOS 5.1 beta, which was later removed due to serious issues on Series 4.
The build number for watchOS 5.1.1 is 16R600.
According to the patch notes, watchOS 5.1.1 contains fixes for the same bugs as the watchOS 5.1 beta, which has been removed. The issue with Activity medals, problems with the Walkie-Talkie app and erroneous fall recognition has been fixed.
Here is the complete postscript to the update:
- Apple Watch Series 4 will automatically call emergency services if you have not moved for more than a minute after falling. Now the watch will also play a message that will notify the service that Apple Watch has recognized the fall, as well as your location.
- Fixed problem with installing the Walkie-Talkie application.
- Fixed problem with sending and receiving invitations in the Walkie-talkie.
- Fixed an issue resulting in Activity rewards not displaying in the app.
You can download the new version in the application Apple Watch for iPhone on the tab My watch → Basic → Software update. The watch must be connected to a charger and placed next to a smartphone connected to a Wi-Fi network.
