Apple focuses on software for Apple Watch, making it better Many Apple Watch owners are looking forward to watchOS 2.
The new software was showcased at this year's Keynote Worldwide Developers Conference, and includes many new features. On June 23, the company Apple released watchOS 2 beta 2 to developers. Slightly updated software is available for developer testing. With the new beta version, developers were allowed to continue testing applications, and also gained access to other capabilities Apple Watch, including the Digital Crown and built-in sensors.
In terms of new features in watchOS, users expect to see a new Travel Time feature that will allow them to check upcoming events right from their watch, a new Nightstand mode, three new Watch Faces, and third-party app access to the watch face.
New Watch Faces
watchOS 2.0 has new WatchFaces like Photo Face or Photo Album Face. Watch Faces will allow users to use their own images as the background for the watch face, which can change every time they lift their wrist to check the time.
In addition, developers will also be able to create their own Complications with watchOS 2. This will allow developers to provide users with more information they need right on the wrist of their watch.
As of watchOS 2.0 Apple, opens Complications for third-party applications from App Store. This will allow the watch to display the necessary information to users without having to open a third-party application.
Time Travel or time travel
Time travel will allow Watch owners to check scheduled events, or other information that is about to happen, right on the watch face. The time travel function will work with a digital head that allows the user to scroll through the head to get information.
Nightstand or bedside table
WatchOS 2 also features a new Nightstand mode that automatically displays the time of an upcoming alarm when the watch is in charge. In this mode, the digital head will delay the alarm signal for a specified time, and the side button will turn off the alarm.
Support for standard applications
This will allow developers to create applications that can run and process application data directly on their own Apple Watch. This will result in faster opening / closing of applications and longer response times.
With watchOS 2 Apple we have updated the Workout app, which will allow users to share their activity and workout achievements in Facebook, Twitter and messages.
Owners of Apple Watch will also be able to use Siri directly to start training right away.
With HomeKit support in watchOS 2, owners Apple Watch will be able to directly control lights and other HomeKit accessories using a variety of apps Apple Watch.
Access to the hardware kernel
Apple will provide developers with access to core hardware Apple Watch such as the microphone, accelerometer, speaker, Taptic Engine, digital head, and more watchOS 2. This will allow developers to create richer smartwatch applications.
The programs will now also be able to play videos on the smartwatch, thus allowing users to watch videos sent by friends right on their wrist.
watchOS 2 also brings an update Apple Maps with support for vehicle navigation, an updated app Apple Pay, Siri with improved voice control, which will allow users to start training with a voice command.
For those using the first beta of watchOS 2, the new software is available over the air (OTA) via the app Apple Watch iOS 9.
