The new iPhone X (pronounced iPhone ten) is a huge step forward in the smartphone world. It has a completely new design and is full of new technologies. Some of its characteristics coincide with those of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (glass case, A11 Bionic processor, etc.), but there are also several unique features that distinguish the premium iPhone.
Starting price iPhone X is $ 999 for the 64GB model. The phone will be available from November 3rd.
Listed below are all the unique features of iPhone X.
Super Retina OLED display
For the first time a AMOLED display was used for the line iPhone. It is 5.8 inches diagonally, and its resolution is 2436 × 1125 with 458 PPI.
HDR
It's not just the quantity but also the quality of the pixels. The screen supports HDR technology (including Dolby Vision HDR). The colors are richer and the details are sharper.
Curved screen edges
iPhone X is made of the same materials as iPhone 8, but the shape of its body is different. Of course, there is a notch on top of the display, and its edges are bent and smoothly merge into frames. The screen with curled edges on iPhone is also a new addition.
Face ID
iPhone X does not have Touch ID. Authentication will now be done using the new Face ID system. It consists of a camera and sensors located in a notch on the display. Face ID technology is powered by the TrueDepth front camera.
The system consists of a spotlight, an infrared camera and a streaming window. The porthole projects light onto your face. The searchlight emits 30,000 invisible dots that read the parameters of your face. The infrared image and point model are then sent to the neural system and create a mathematical model of your face. All data is stored in the Secure Enclave (i.e. it is protected and can only be accessed by disassembling the device).
The whole process takes place within the device and no data is transmitted to the server.
Face ID only works when you look at the screen.
The system cannot be fooled by a photo of your face (or even a high quality volume mask).
Selfie in portrait mode
Thanks to the TrueDepth sensor, the front camera can take pictures in portrait mode. Camera resolution – 7MP. It also supports a portrait light mode that lets you add lighting effects to your photos.
iPhone 8 still has the old FaceTime HD camera.
Optical image stabilization in both cameras
The dual camera system on iPhone X is slightly better than on iPhone 8. Two 12Pm cameras (apertures f 1.8 and 2.4) support optical image stabilization. Zoom videos will now look much better in poorly lit conditions (noise reduction has also been improved).
On the additional 12MP telephoto camera on iPhone 8, the aperture is smaller – f / 2.8.
Animoji
Apple added over ten animated emoji characters that can change facial expressions based on yours. They only work in Messages. You can take a photo or record a video with an animated character, which will also contain sound.
Gesture control
There is no 'Home' button on iPhone X. This means that a new way has been added for every function, from unlocking the device to using it Apple Pay.
Unlock: To unlock a new one iPhone, simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
Go to home screen: To return to the home screen from an application, swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
Application switcher: Swipe up and stop in the middle of the screen.
Recent Apps: At the bottom, swipe from left to right to go to another app.
Control Center: Swipe up and down to the right of the notch (where the battery and communication signal are shown).
Siri: Press the side button.
Apple Pay: Press the side button twice.
Improved battery
With a new processor and OLED – display iPhone X lasts 2 hours longer than iPhone 7. For many users this will be a huge benefit.
