Chinese news source YiCai Global reported that Apple is currently working with Chinese manufacturer Contemporary Amperax Technology Limited (CATL), the largest battery manufacturer in the region.
The technology giant in Cupertino works with Contemporary Ampex Technology Ltd. (CATL), a battery manufacturer in Fujian Province, China, under a confidentiality agreement. The parties are working together in the field of batteries, according to sources associated with this cooperation.
What this could mean for Apple is still anyone's guess, since this does not necessarily confirm the fact that Apple intentions to create a car with its own logo on it are gradually reviving or, on the contrary, wilted . However, a hypothetical situation in which Apple is working on a car battery suggests that her Titan project may involve an electric car as well.
Meanwhile, CATL itself plans to reach 50 GWh by 2020, which would mean it will be the second largest manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries in the world. Only Tesla / Panasonic are ahead of them.
