The OnePlus 6 went on sale this week in almost every major country. It's a 'budget flagship smartphone' and costs almost half the price iPhone X. But can the OnePlus 6 beat the flagship Apple in speed despite its low price point?
The Everything Apple Pro speed test showed that OnePlus 6 was faster iPhone X. In the first block of tests, OnePlus 6 was slightly slower iPhone X, but it managed to break out ahead in video processing and loading applications from RAM. The OnePlus 6 can have up to 8GB of RAM, so it is a multitasking monster, which is not the case with the iPhone X with 3GB of RAM.
The same tests were done with iPhone X with the animation turned off, and so it coped with the first block of tests in just 1 minute 54 seconds, while the OnePlus 6 took 2 minutes 21 seconds.
However, the OnePlus 6 was faster in app downloads with Instagram, Snapchat and Google Maps. In the video, the difference seems quite small, but in everyday use it will be felt.
In benchmark tests, the OnePlus 6 processor was completely beaten by the iPhone X A11 Bionic processor. The same cannot be said for the GPU benchmark, in which the OnePlus 6 took the lead again thanks to the lower screen resolution.

The OnePlus 6 has its own facial recognition technology, but it works on the basis of a single 16MP front camera. Because of this, the technology is not as secure as Face ID from Apple, but it works much faster. The difference is already noticeable, but imagine how it will feel when you unlock your smartphone dozens of times a day.
Surprisingly, despite the less powerful processor, the OnePlus 6 was able to outperform iPhone X in some benchmarks. The multitasking test once again showed that Apple should start adding at least 4GB of RAM to iPhone for them to work fine.
